PITY examines the meaning and perhaps meaninglessness of the emotion of pity through
the lens of Shakespeare’s Othello as a tragedy which conforms superbly with the Aristotelian
criteria of a Tragedy. A pentalogy with each part focusing on one of the main characters of the play, the previous parts have premiered and performed since 2018 at venues such as Atalante, Göteborgs Stadsteater, GBG Mime Fest, Teater Trixter and toured festivals in the Middle East.

With support from The Swedish Arts Council and Gothenburg Arts and Cultural Affairs Committee. Developed in residency at Danscentrum Väst.
The work of Iraqi Bodies explores the link between movement and gesture, between dance and physical theater. The development of their artistic practice has been deeply influenced by the likes of Antonin Artaud, Jerzy Grotowski, Jacques Copeau and Tatsumi Hijikata while retaining a constant dialogue with thinkers, writers and poets such as Eugène Ionesco, Samuel Beckett, Charles Baudelaire, Le Comte de Lautréamont, William Shakespeare, Henri Bergson, Krishnamurti and many others.
The poetics of awareness is an absolute given in their continued search for a radical scenic language.
Iraqi Bodies are based in Gothenburg, Sweden, led by Artistic Directors Anmar Taha and Josephine Gray.
This performance is a part of GBG Mime Fest 2021
