DÉJÀ is inspired by the award-winning graphic novel “Here” by Richard McGuire. It takes place in a single location, 20 square meters of a living room, but on a massive timeframe – reaching deep into the past (80 006 032 BCE) and projecting into the future (7 billion CE). Multiple characters from different times coexist and interact in this space, and create an accumulation of cocktail parties, arguing couples, geiger counters, a fire, a flooding, arrivals and farewells.

The project is a co-production with Nordland Visual Theatre in Norway, and the making of it was supported by Arts Council Norway (NO), Dramatikkens Hus (NO), Nordland Fylkeskommune (NO), Fond for Lyd og Bilde (NO), Danish Arts Foundation (DK), SPENN (NO), l’Espace Périphérique (FR), L’Akuarium (FR) and SPEDIDAM (FR). Further touring has received support from Stikk / UD, The Norwegian Embassy in France, FONPEPS and l’institut Français.

Founded in 2013, the Krumple is a collective of collaborating artists, performers, directors, magicians,puppeteers and musicians who met during their studies at École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, France. The company seeks to create visually arresting theatre without borders, characterised by a strong element of surprise. The human is at the forefront of everything we do, each show walking a fine line between sensitivity and stupidity, as we strive to look through both ends of the telescope for what usually cannot be seen. All shows are devised collaboratively, and without anyone taking themselves (too) seriously. We often seek to laugh and to make others laugh, and to tell stories in a nonlinear fashion, with a leaning towards the poetic and the surreal.

DÉJÀ är inspirerad av den prisbelönta grafiska romanen ”Here” av Richard McGuire. Föreställningen utspelar sig på en enda plats–ett 20 kvadratmeter stort vardagsrum–men rör sig inom en enorm tidsram som sträcker sig djupt in i det förflutna (80 006 032 f.Kr.) för att kasta oss in i framtiden (7 miljarder CE). Flera karaktärer från olika tider samexisterar och interagerar i detta utrymme och skapar en multitud av scener och omgivningar: cocktailpartyn, grälande par, geigerdiskar, en brand, en översvämning, ankomster och farväl. Genom expressiva rörelser, magisk illusion, dockteater och ett starkt bildspråk skapar The Krumple en levande tidskapsel av det aktuella ögonblicket, allt som har lett fram till det, och blickar framåt mot vart mänskligheten kan vara på väg. Den ifrågasätter vår betydelse, eller snarare – vår obetydlighet, inför tidens gång. The Krumple är ett kritikerrosat konstnärskollektiv baserade i Norge och Frankrike.
